Carpet Business Expansion
Mokhira is from a small village in the desert south of Navoii, it requires almost two hours to travel there from
Navoii.

“I started participating in the process of carpet making during my school years, learning from her grandma.”

“This is the very first time I have taken a credit and I have now started my own carpet making business.”

“There isn't any other kind of occupation in our tiny village. To start a carpet business is too expensive, and I did not have the funds to start. The JDA Micro Credit program came to my village at the right time for me and my family. We were able to get a group of women together and I was able to take a start up fund and paid it back after I sold my first carpets. Carpet making is hard work and it is a long time consuming process. During a month I make one or two carpets and get a net profit of $4-5 dollars.”

“I am so thankful that we have a micro credit program in our village. And I hope in the second cycle I will spend my profit for expanding my business.”
