Can I really help?
Can my contribution really make a difference?
Is there hope for transformation?

By contributing to JDA, you are sharing in the work of bringing hope to the people of Central Asia . You are partnering with our national staff as they continue to bring transformational development for equipping individuals, families and communities to meet the challenges of their future.

Support JDA's Water Development Projects

Many rural regions in Central Asia do not have centralized water systems. The surface waters that are used for drinking usually are contaminated by agricultural chemicals and pathogens. Most water - borne diseases can be substantially eliminated when communities have clean water through the use of shallow wells and hand pumps or when the water is disinfected through programs such as SODIS.

The below are suggested donations toward water projects that are transforming communities and improving the lives of families and their sanitary environment. Donations for these projects will be accumulated until the full budget requirements are met.

  Wells and pumps - $450

JDA has drilled and hand dug hundreds of shallow wells and installed hand pumps in over 200 communities. There are still many places that do not have access to protected water sources or people have to travel great distances and spend much time collecting and transporting it.

For a gift of $450, you can help drill and install a hand pump that will serve 200 people.

  SODIS - $ 500

Solar Water Disinfection (SODIS-read more) has been shown to be effective in reducing diarrheal diseases by as much as 53.5%.

The SODIS project will be implemented in 31 villages of northern Afghanistan and more than 90,000 people will benefit. Fifty community health volunteers will be trained, and will disseminate SODIS materials and health related information. Students will become SODIS messengers to bring this disinfection technique to their families.

For a gift of $500 you can have an impact by helping two hundred families (1200 people) learn how to disinfect their water. We need $34,700 for this entire project.
